Lianhe Zaobao sets up CNY site with Qoo10

SINGAPORE - In the run-up to Chinese New Year (CNY), Chinese daily Lianhe Zaobao has collaborated with online retail platform Qoo10 to launch Z-Shop, a microsite with information and services related to the festival.

Z-Shop, Lianhe Zaobao's first foray into the e-commerce sector, features an online shop selling items such as new year goodies and household appliances at attractive prices.

The site also has content related to CNY celebrations, including information on food trends as well as fashion styling tips.

Users will also be able to use the site to send out interactive electronic greetings, generate lucky numbers and find out about the various events and activities during the festive period using an interactive map.

Fortune forecasts for the 12 Chinese zodiac signs in the Year of the Monkey will also be available courtesy of Fengshui master Tan Khoon Yong.

"This is an opportunity for us to assist merchants and business owners who are keen to explore e-commerce as an additional sales channel," said Qoo10 managing director Cho Hyun Wook.

Lianhe Zaobao associate editor Han Yong May said she hoped the site would provide useful information to readers during the CNY period.

"Together with the delivery of content through integration of words, graphics and videos, this microsite will be a source of interesting ideas and useful information for online users as we usher in the Year of the Monkey," said Ms Han, who is also digital media editor of the Chinese Media Group at Singapore Press Holdings.
