Leadership changes at SPH's Chinese Newspaper Division

Singapore Press Holdings Limited (SPH) announced on Thursday that there will be changes to the management team of its Chinese Newspapers Division (CND) from January 2014.

Mr Toh Lam Huat, who is the supervising editor of Lianhe Wanbao, Shin Min Daily News and the evening papers' central integrated newsroom, will be appointed special projects editor.

Mr Chua Chim Kang will relinquish editorship of the evening tabloid Lianhe Wanbao to become managing editor of the CND. His portfolio will include digital business development, business support, editorial administration, employee training and talent development of CND, as well as overseeing the central integrated newsroom.

Ms Lee Huay Leng, who is currently deputy editor of flagship Lianhe Zaobao and the vice president of SPH's cultural industry promotion department, will take over as the new Lianhe Wanbao editor.

Other management positions like Lianhe Zaobao editor, who is also the editoral consultant of My Paper (Chinese), Mr Goh Sin Teck, remain unchanged. Mr Pan Cheng Lui will remain as editor of Shin Min Daily News and Mr Seow Choke Meng as executive vice president of the cultural industry promotion department.

All will report directly to Mr Lim Jim Koon, editor-in-chief of CND.

In a statement released by SPH on Thursday, Mr Lim said: "The objective of the restructure is to allow our management staff to be given the opportunities to take on various positions. With their respective wealth of experiences and knowledge in the organisation, I am confident that they will be able to make greater contributions to the future development of the Chinese Newspapers Division."
