SINGAPORE - A tree branch fell on a car near the junction of Woodlands Avenues 3 and 5 on Saturday (July 18) morning.

Eyewitnesses wrote in to Stomp with pictures of the incident, which showed the heavy-looking branch completely covering the red vehicle.

A female driver and her front-seat passenger were believed to have been in the car.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident at 7.50am and dispatched a fire engine and an ambulance to the scene.

The car's occupants, however, had managed to exit the vehicle before SCDF's arrival, said a spokesman.

There were no injuries reported.

An eyewitness by the name of Vignes said there had been a heavy downpour in the area at around 6am, which could have led to the branch breaking.

Traffic at the intersection was temporarily affected as the recovery vehicle had to wait for the branch to be cleared before towing away the damaged car.
