The police in a statement late Thursday night said that the two murders at Kovan on Wednesday pose little risk to general public safety.
It added that the public should also refrain from making "unfounded speculations" as this may cause undue alarm and additional distress to the loved ones of the deceased persons.
Mr Tan Boon Sin, 67, was found murdered in his home in Hillside Drive, near Upper Serangoon Road on Wednesday afternoon. The body of his son, 42, was found earlier about 1km away outside Kovan MRT station. Eyewitnesses say a car had dragged the body of the younger Mr Tan along Upper Serangoon Road before the body was dislodged.
The police added in its statement added that investigators are examining all available evidence, including witnesses' accounts. "As Police investigations are ongoing, we are unable to comment further for operational reasons," it said.
