It was a tearful occasion as the family of Mr Tan Boon Sin, 67, and Mr Tan Chee Heong, 42 - victims of the Kovan double murder last Wednesday - turned up at the mortuary at 12:35pm Sunday to claim their bodies.
Four of them were present, including the younger Mr Tan's widow, his brother Tan Chee Wee, his uncle Ong Boon Kok and a yet-to-be-identified woman.
As the casket van left the mortuary, a teary Mr Tan Chee Wee dabbed his eyes with a tissue paper, while Mr Ong placed a comforting hand around his shoulder.
The family then left in two separate vehicles - one of them bearing the fateful '14J' number plate that has taken prominence in the case.
Double-murder suspect Iskandar Rahmat, 34, a senior staff sergeant with the Bedok Police Division, was arrested by Malaysian police at 11:30pm Friday.
