The police officer accused of the double murder in Kovan will be remanded for another two weeks for psychiatric assessment.

Iskandar Rahmat, 34, a senior staff sergeant, appeared via video-link in court 26 on Friday. The prosecution said the prison psychiatrist requested another two weeks to assess Iskandar who need not be remanded at the Changi Prison Complex Medical Centre.

Iskandar will instead be remanded at the prison complex until Aug 30 when his case will be mentioned. Iskandar has been charged with the murder of car workshop owner Tan Boon Sin, 66, and his son, Mr Tan Chee Heong 42, a businessman, at their Hillside Drive terrace house on July 10.

The younger Mr Tan was dragged for about 1km by the family car, driven by Iskandar, till outside Kovan MRT station where the body was dislodged. Iskandar was nabbed in Johor Baru after a 54-hour manhunt.
