Trained architect with spina bifida takes on projects to help the disabled lead normal lives

Richard Kuppusamy was born with a congenital disability which affected his ability to walk. But while others may have felt adversity, the accomplished architect saw empowerment.

Mr Richard Kuppusamy sits in his wheelchair and wryly throws up a poser.

"If you point at me and ask anyone: 'Do you think that guy can work for a construction company?', what do you think they'd say?" asks the 41-year-old who was born with spina bifida, a condition where the spine and spinal cord do not form and develop properly.
