International brands use sombre logos on social media to show respect to Mr Lee Kuan Yew

SINGAPORE- Several international companies based here have changed their logos on social media to a sombre grey or black to show respect to the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

Among the brands that have done so are entertainment companies Walt Disney and Warner Brothers, coffee chain Starbucks, fast food joint Burger King and electronics brand Asus.

Some of these brands have also dedicated tributes to Mr Lee. Coffee chain The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf wrote on its Facebook page: "A true leader with an undying spirit, your legacy will forever live on."

Ikea Singapore also updated its Facebook page on March 23, the day Mr Lee died. It said: "All of us at Ikea share Singapore's sorrow today. Our heartfelt condolences go to the Lee family. We consider ourselves lucky to have been here during the lifetime of Singapore's founding father. Thank you for all you've done for our great nation, Mr Lee."

Hotels such as W Singapore in Sentosa, Fairmont Singapore and InterContinental Singapore have also changed their logos, and expressed their sorrow at Mr Lee's passing.
