Inaugural social enterprise carnival to showcase work of enterprises

The Ministry of Social and Family Development and DBS Bank will organise Singapore's first-ever social enterprise carnival on May 18 and 19.

The event will be held in conjunction with the DBS Marina Regatta 2013 and will bring together more than 20 social enterprises in a full-day carnival at the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade.

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the social enterprise sector in Singapore and to get them to work together.

Visitors will get a taste of the work that social enterprises do on that day. For example, Circus in Motion, a social enterprise that aims to impart life skills through circus workshops for youth-at-risk, will hold performances while Bakery Hearts, which helps low-income women, will hold cookie-decorating classes.
