"Important Message" signal to be sounded on public warning system on Sept 15

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will be sounding the "Important Message" signal through its islandwide network of Public Warning System (PWS) sirens on Sept 15 at 12.05pm.

Held annually, the minute-long sounding exercise is part of SCDF's continuous efforts to familiarise the public with the three PWS signals.

Besides educating the public and raising awareness on how they should react upon hearing each signal, the radio broadcast message for this year also incorporates a public advisory. Listeners will be reminded against discarding items at common areas of residential premises.

Members of the public are advised not to be alarmed by the signal. When it is sounded, they may immediately tune in to any local radio station to listen to the message being broadcast. More information about the PWS signals and other emergency procedures may be found by visiting www.scdf.gov.sg
