SINGAPORE - A brand of oat biscuits are being recalled after a consumer found a small piece of plastic wire cover in a piece of the snack.

The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) said a member of the public informed them of the wire cover found in a piece of IKO Oats Cracker with Muesli on Tuesday (Aug 30).

"AVA has been working with the importer to investigate the matter," it said.

Meanwhile, the importer has decided to recall the affected batch of the product as a precaution, AVA said on Friday.

The recalled batch of biscuits, which are manufactured in Malaysia, has the expiration date June 1, 2017.

"Consumers who have purchased the product are advised not to consume it," AVA said.
