SINGAPORE - The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has urged the public to check if their passports have expired or are expiring, in view of the upcoming June school holidays.
In a reminder issued on Monday (April 25), ICA said those planning to travel abroad in June should apply for a new one early so as to avoid the anticipated last-minute rush.
Longer waiting times are inevitable during the peak periods, it warned.
ICA added that many countries require a passport to be valid for at least six months as part of their entry requirements.
There are three ways to apply for a new passport - by submitting an application via Apples (Application for Passport On-Line Electronic System) on the ICA website, by mailing the completed form to the ICA Building or by dropping the forms in the deposit boxes located at levels 1, 2 and 3 of the building.
Applicants will be notified by post once their new passports are ready for collection.
They can either make an appointment at http://eappointment.ica.gov.sg or through the ICA's new mobile app, eAPPT@ICA.
