With the September school holidays coming up, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) has reminded Singapore citizens planning to travel to ensure that their passports have at least six months' validity from the day they leave the country.

This is to avoid facing any inconvenience overseas.

Applications for new passports or renewals can be submitted online at www.ica.gov.sg, by post, or at the ICA Building - via the deposit boxes, self-service kiosks or over the counter.

Singapore citizens submitting their passport applications online, by post, or by the deposit boxes and self-service kiosks will receive a $10 rebate off the regular payment of $80.

A passport collection notification card will be mailed to applicants within one week from the date ICA receives their application.

New passports will be valid for five years, plus any remaining validity from an individual's existing passport, capped at five years and nine months.
