SINGAPORE - Parents of babies born next year will get a specially designed suitcase filled with items to be given to babies born next year, as part of the SG50Baby Jubilee Gift.
An advisory panel shortlisted 15 ideas from more than 6,500 suggestions collected by the National Population and Talent Division, which is leading the project.
The 15 items were put up for public voting in May, drawing about 20,000 votes. Eight were eventually chosen. The designs of two of the items were revealed last week: a white, five-picture photo frame and a scrapbook with colourful stickers. On Sunday, the suitcase and the designs of the rest of the items - except the medallion, which will be shown on Jan 1 - were unveiled by Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Grace Fu at a community event at Suntec City mall.
Here is how the eight items fared in the poll:
1. Special medallion: 61 per cent
2. Shawl: 47 per cent
3. Baby sling: 44 per cent
4. Set of baby clothes: 42 per cent
5. Diaper bag: 41 per cent
6. Scrapbook: 41 per cent
7. Family photo frame: 32 per cent
8. Set of baby books: 22 per cent
