More HDB resale transactions in fourth quarter of 2014

SINGAPORE - More Housing Board flats changed hands in the fourth quarter of 2014, as resale prices continued to fall, according to the latest figures from HDB on Friday.

There were 4,635 resale deals from October to December, up 2.7 per cent from the previous quarter's 4513. The HDB resale price index fell by 1.5 per cent.

The number of deals for the full year was 17,318, a decrease of 4.3 per cent from 2013. The resale price index fell 6 per cent year-on-year.

The HDB rental market saw more activity. There were 10,365 subletting transactions in the fourth quarter, up 16.2 per cent from 8,923 previously. The total number of HDB flats approved for subletting rose by 0.9 per cent from 47,707 units to 48,120 units.

In 2015, HDB will offer 16,900 Build-To-Order (BTO) flats, including those in new areas such as Bidadari and Punggol Northshore. The BTO exercises will be conducted quarterly from February. More information on the upcoming flats is available on the HDB InfoWEB.
