Star Wars characters on three ANA planes

Star Wars robot characters BB-8 and R2-D2 are taking off with Japan's All Nippon Airways. The airline will paint three of its planes with Star Wars livery, ahead of the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens later this year. The planes are not just themed on the outside, but inside as well, with headrest covers, paper napkins and cups featuring Star Wars characters.


SIA flight turns back after bird strike

A Singapore Airlines (SIA) plane flying from Turkey to Singapore had to return to Istanbul after it experienced a bird strike on Monday. An SIA spokesman said all 255 passengers and 14 crew disembarked normally from Flight SQ391.

Arrangements were made for passengers to be re-booked on other flights to Singapore or accommodated in hotels.


Attempted robbery of taxi driver

Two men aged 21 and 23 were arrested by police on Monday for attempting to rob a taxi driver. They had boarded the taxi at Mandai Road.

During the journey, the cabby noticed one of them taking out a knife from a bag. He got off and alerted the police. Police also seized items that included a knife, hammer and spanner.
