S'porean arrested for using fake Thai IC

A 50-year-old Singaporean man was arrested by Thai immigration officers last Tuesday for using a fake Thai identity card (IC) to cross the Thai-Myanmar border .

Zhang Yao Zhong allegedly presented the fake IC, which had his photo but bore the name of a dead Thai man, at the Mae Sai border.

Zhang reportedly told police that a Thai man and a woman got him the IC for 200,000 Thai bhat in 2013.

His arrest brought to light a racket which produced fake ICs for foreigners to stay in the country without visas.
