More phone scams about parcels reported

Police yesterday issued an advisory about a scam where victims receive calls from unknown people claiming to work for courier service firms.

The victims are typically told their personal particulars were used to send parcels containing fake passports or weapons. The calls are then transferred to someone claiming to be a Customs or police officer. The victims are asked to provide details such as their name, identification number, address, or bank account numbers.

The police have received numerous such reports from late last month, and advised the public to be vigilant.
