Kusu pilgrimage from Oct 13 to Nov 11

The annual pilgrimage to Kusu Island, which takes place during the ninth lunar month, will happen between Oct 13 and Nov 11.

Ferries to the island will depart from Marina South Pier starting at 6.30am on weekends and public holidays, and 7am on weekdays.

The last ferry will depart from Marina South Pier at 5pm, and leave Kusu Island at 7pm daily. Regular ferry services to St John's Island are temporarily suspended.


AVA issues alert on phishing scam

The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) has warned about a phishing scam.

The bogus "official" letter asks recipients to renew their dog licence, and make payment online via a URL that links to a PayPal website.


Body of Singaporean found, slashed, in Kedah

A 52-year-old Singaporean man was found dead on Sunday off a highway in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah, Malaysia.

The unnamed man was found with at least 13 slash wounds on his forehead, the back of his head, and arms. His head wounds were so deep that his skull was visible.

Kedah police said the man died from multiple knife wounds. They have classified the case as murder, and investigations are ongoing.


All livestock for Korban sold

All 3,700 animals to be imported for the annual Islamic sacrificial ritual of Korban on Sept 24 have been sold, the Singapore Mosques Korban Committee announced yesterday. The livestock consists of sheep from Australia and lambs from Ireland.
