Brothers fined over kickbacks scam

Two brothers were fined $180,000 each for collecting kickbacks from foreign construction workers.

Lim Boon Hwa, 41, boss of Lexley Management Services, and Lim Boon Hong, 36, its human resources consultant, were drawn into a scam with Kathamuthu Chelladurai, a construction firm supervisor. The trio collected nearly $418,000 from 13 workers to renew their work permits.


Bus services diverted on Pedestrian Night

Some bus services plying Orchard Road will be diverted on the first Saturday for the next four months for Pedestrian Night.

Route diversions for SMRT services 77, 106, 167, 171, 190, 700A and 972 will last from 6pm to 11pm. On those nights, a 660m stretch of road on the shopping strip will be closed to traffic.
