Heart patients have got a new place to exercise safely, and to get nutrition and weight loss advice.
The Singapore Heart Foundation, which opened its second heart-wellness centre in Bugis on Monday, has equipped it with treadmills and other exercise equipment. The centre is a place for patients with heart conditions and those at risk of heart disease to get a structured exercise programme, as well as healthy-living advice from trained staff.
Although exercise helps raise the quality of life after procedures like heart bypass surgery, many patients don't do so after leaving hospital.
The Life Insurance Association (LIA) raised $200,000 for the new centre. The foundation's first such rehabilitation centre was opened in Bishan in 2006.
