SINGAPORE - Some 750 people gathered just after sunrise on Sunday (June 19) to take part in a free yoga session at Home of Athletics in Kallang.

It was part of a worldwide celebration of the second International Day of Yoga, which falls on June 21 and is endorsed by the United Nations.

A total of 140 countries are expected to participate, with activities in cities such as New Delhi, Paris and Dublin.

Sunday's two-hour session was also held to raise awareness about the practice of yoga and was organised by the group Nikam Guruji Yoga Kutir, which has been conducting free yoga classes in Singapore for the past 17 years.
