SINGAPORE - Preschoolers can look forward to cleaner and safer toilets, after the Restroom Association of Singapore (RAS) launched its 'Happy Toilets @ Preschools' programme on Tuesday.
The programme seeks to improve the standards of restrooms, train cleaning attendants and educate preschoolers in its three-tiered approach of 'design, maintenance and education'.
Under this framework, preschools are advised to create and maintain environmentally-friendly children's toilets and teach youngsters good toilet habits.
A Happy Toilet plaque will be presented to the schools upon completion of the three phases within a six-month period.
Speaking to a crowd of 120 principals and teachers, Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Social and Family Development Low Yen Ling said: "For good habits to set in, it is important to start young (and inculcate) toilet habits that will stay with the children for life."
