SINGAPORE - A four-year-old boy who suffered cuts on his head after a 3m-tall glass door at a mall broke off and fell on him is recovering well.

The accident occurred at Westgate mall in Jurong East around 6pm on Thursday. Close circuit television footage showed that the boy had been pushing and swinging the glass door on the fifth floor of the mall. Eyewitnesses said the door fell on the boy.

Mr Eddie Lim, the centre manager of Westgate, told The Straits Times on Saturday morning: "The boy is under observation at National University Hospital (NUH). But he is doing well. He is playing and is active."

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed it received a call on the accident at 6:05pm on Thursday. He suffered neck pains and a cut on his head. The boy was sent to the NUH, accompanied by his mother and mall staff. Mr Lim added that the boy, who is expected to be discharged on Sunday, did not need stitches for the cuts.
