SINGAPORE - A ComfortDelGro taxi left a trail of destruction on Scotts Road on Wednesday (Aug 31) afternoon.

Exiting Claymore Hill beside Shaw House, it hit a Toyota Alphart and a Hyundai Avante. It then crashed through the centre divider and rammed into a passing Volvo on the other side of the road before coming to a halt.

Mr Jumaat Azhar, 24, a senior retailer from the Michael Kors outlet, told The Straits Times that he dashed out on hearing a "loud bang" and saw the crashed taxi when he looked out of the store.

"The taxi driver was completely covered in blood, I think he was bleeding from his head and he was unconscious," said Mr Jumaat.

The driver of the Hyundai Avante, Mr Rashid Hassim, 32, was heading to his office in Tampines from Ion Orchard, when the taxi hit his vehicle along Scotts Road.

"My car spun. Now the left side of my body is in pain, from my chest to my leg," said the IT support engineer.

He was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, together with the taxi driver, who is in his 60s, according to SCDF.

The SCDF, which dispatched three ambulances to the scene after being alerted to the accident at 1.56pm, added that a boy who is believed to have been a passenger in the Volvo was also taken to KK Hospital.
