Four-vehicle accident causes major jam on CTE, three lanes blocked

A four-vehicle pile-up on the Central Expressway (CTE) towards Ang Mo Kio caused a major jam during the evening peak hour on Tuesday (March 1).

A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said it received a call at 6.30pm to attend to an accident involving two cars, one van and one motorcycle just after Moulmein and before the PIE (Changi) exit.

An ambulance was dispatched, and two casualties were sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Their condition is presently unknown, SCDF said.

Police investigations are ongoing, said a spokesman.

In a tweet at 6.51pm, the Land Transport Authority said congestion lasts till the Merchant Road exit, advising motorists to "avoid lanes 2, 3 and 4".
