Four arrested in three separate cases of vehicle theft, involving two bikes and a lorry

Three men and a woman, all aged between 20 and 28, were arrested on Thursday for their involvement in three separate cases of vehicle theft.

Police said a manager had reported on Wednesday that his company's lorry had been stolen from Defu Lane that day. The following day, the manager spotted the lorry on the Central Expressway, and called police. Officers then trailed the lorry to a carpark at Ang Mo Kio Street 31, where they arrested two men, aged 20 and 21.

In the second case, police had spotted a stolen motorcycle which was being ridden by a female rider at Admiralty Link on Thursday. It matched the description of a motorcycle which had been reported stolen from Springside Green on Jan 28. The 24-year-old rider tried to escape after seeing the police, but was eventually caught.

A traffic accident involving a motorcycle was called in at 11pm later that night at Hougang Avenue 8. Traffic police who responded established that the motorcycle was reported stolen in November. Police then arrested the 28-year-old male rider.

He will be charged in court on Saturday, as will the 20-year-old in the first case. If convicted, they may be jailed for seven years and fined. They may also be disqualified from driving.

Investigations against the two other suspects are still ongoing.
