Former Telok Kurau Secondary School launches book at SG50 dinner

SINGAPORE - More than 200 guests and former students of Telok Kurau Secondary School gathered on Tuesday night for an SG50 celebration.

Among them was former Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Manpower and Education Hawazi Daipi, who began Secondary 1 there in 1967.

A coffee table book titled SERVING THE NATION: 45 Years of Telok Kurau Secondary School was also launched at the dinner at Village Hotel Bugis to commemorate the history of the integrated school. It was set up in 1965 and brought together both English- and Malay-stream students.

The school was merged with Broadrick Secondary in 2010.

Mr Amrin Amin, Parliamentary Secretary for Home Affairs, was the guest of honour.
