Nestled in lush greenery and located in the heart of Singapore's civic district, Fort Canning Hill has undergone multiple phases of development. The latest enhancements to Fort Canning Park help highlight its history and make it more accessible. The changes are part of ongoing efforts to inject life into the site and coincide with Singapore's bicentennial this year. Launched on May 27, the works span 8ha. The 18ha park is the second-largest in the city, after the 82ha Botanic Gardens. The Straits Times takes a look at the spruced-up park that was originally known as Bukit Larangan or Forbidden Hill.
