Flames engulf two cars and a motorbike

THREE vehicles reportedly burst into flames in separate incidents on the same day - spewing acrid plumes of black smoke into the air.

Only the charred frames of the two cars and a motorcycle remained after being licked by the flames.

No one was hurt in the three blazes, which took place on Tuesday.

The first happened at about 1am, when a car caught fire on Holland Road, Shin Min Daily News reported.

The evening newspaper quoted witnesses who heard two explosions and said the flames and smoke were two storeys high.

Then, at 4.30pm, witnesses saw a motorcycle engulfed in smoke near Block 64 Commonwealth Drive.

The Shin Min report added that the blaze had burned itself out before firefighters arrived at the scene.

At 11pm, a car caught fire on the fourth storey of a carpark in Compassvale Link.

Owners of nearby vehicles promptly drove away, according to Chinese evening paper Lianhe Wanbao.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it is investigating.
