SINGAPORE - The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) had to force its way into Admiralty Primary to put out a fire that broke out in one of the school's toilets in the wee hours of Tuesday (Oct 20) morning.

News of the fire was first reported on social media, with Twitter user Aticat (@AHteacar) posting a photo of the blaze from afar.

Another user, Md Haziq Sasman (@peoplecallmeZiq), uploaded a 20-second video which showed the sizeable fire burning on the second floor of what was later revealed to be the school's administration building.

According to a spokesman, the SCDF was alerted to the blaze at 11, Woodlands Circle at 2.05am. Its officers gained entry into the school using forcible entry tools, and a water jet was used to put out the blaze.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Admiralty Primary's vice-principal Jay Mahardale told The Straits Times that the toilet was an unused one.

"As it is currently the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) marking week, we will inform the students of the incident when they return to school at the end of this week," said Mr Mahardale.
