A financial consultant who had commercial sex with a 16-year-old girl was jailed for 10 weeks on Friday.

Khoo Yi Xuan is the eighth man to be convicted and jailed for having paid sex with the student, who was tricked into the flesh trade.

The 25-year-old admitted to having paid $300 for the sexual services of the minor at his home in Kembangan on Feb 18 last year.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Lin Yinbing told the court the minor was one of the working girls procured by Malcolm Graham Head, 33, for prostitution.

Head, who was assisted by his girlfriend Veronica Patricia Rio, 19, ran his online prostitution ring by advertising the sexual services of his working girls on various websites.

In October 2012, he befriended the minor via Facebook and tricked her into believing that she was going to be a social escort with "fast cash" and "high pay''. He told her that her role was just to accompany clients for functions and dinner.

Subsequently, the minor realised that she was to provide sexual services of all kinds to the clients either Head or Rio secured for her. At times when she did not want to serve clients, she would be fed "Ice", the street name for methamphetamine, to keep her awake or she would be assaulted by the couple.

Khoo chanced upon the online ad website Locanto in February 2013. On Feb 17 that year, he sent an SMS text message to the telephone number listed to book the minor's sexual services. He was quoted $230 for the minor's services.

The next day between 2am and 4am, Head and another working girl brought the minor to Khoo's condominium. Head provided her with a condom.

While his family members were asleep, Khoo had sex with the minor in his bedroom and paid her $300. He did not ask for her identity card.

Head is due for sentencing later, while Rio's case is pending.

Khoo could have been jailed for up to seven years and/or fined for commercial sex with a person under 18 years of age.
