ESM Goh to visit Myanmar, meet with top leaders

SINGAPORE - Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong will call on Myanmar President Thein Sein during a visit to the country's capital, Naypyitaw, this week.

Mr Goh will also meet with opposition leader and democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi on his trip, which will take place from Monday to Wednesday.

In addition, he will meet several senior government officials, including Union Parliament Speaker Shwe Mann, army chief Min Aung Hlaing, Union Minister in the President's Office Soe Thane, Union Minister for Finance Win Shein and central bank governor Kyaw Kyaw Maung.

During his visit, Mr Goh will also meet with Vice Chairman of the Union Solidarity and Development Party Htay Oo, chairman of the Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) and Union Minister for Energy Zeya Aung and other members of the MIC.

He will be accompanied on his visit by Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck and Minister of State for National Development Desmond Lee.

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Development, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Monetary Authority of Singapore and International Enterprise Singapore will also be part of the delegation to Myanmar.
