Vivian Balakrishnan to attend climate change forum in Washington

SINGAPORE - Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Vivian Balakrishnan will attend the Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate in Washington, DC, on Sunday, April 19, and Monday.

He will take part in a dialogue to discuss matters related to the international climate change negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change, the Ministry of the Environment And Water Resources (MEWR) said in a press statement.

This 21st meeting, involving 17 major economies, will be hosted by the United States.

The new global climate change agreement is slated to be adopted in Paris at the end of this year, the ministry said in its statement.

Dr Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from MEWR and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
