Visibility was near zero. Inching forward in the murky waters of the flooded cave was perilous. Yet, volunteer cave divers such as Ivan Karadzic bravely soldiered on into the unknown, lugging heavy diving equipment.
"I could only feel the guide rope and see some turbulence (in the water) caused by the diver ahead," he told The Sunday Times. "But I knew I wasn't alone."
