SINGAPORE - Haze and reduced visibility are expected again on Sunday, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said in its haze update on Saturday evening.

The 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) is expected to be between the mid-section of the unhealthy (101-200) range and the low end of the very unhealthy (201-300) range, NEA said.

It may reach the mid-section of the very unhealthy range if denser haze is blown in.

Air quality has been in the very unhealthy range since 4am on Saturday.

As of 7pm, the 24-hour PSI was 167-208. The three-hour PSI, which is not tied to health advisories, was 128.

In its advisory issued on Saturday evening, NEA said that 324 hotspots were detected in Kalimantan on Saturday.

Widespread moderate to dense haze was observed over Kalimantan and some of the haze continued to spread to Singapore's surrounding seas.

When the 24-hour PSI is in the very unhealthy range, healthy persons should avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion. The elderly, pregnant women and children should minimise outdoor activity, while those with chronic lung or heart disease should avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion.

People who are not feeling well, especially the elderly and children, and those with chronic heart or lung conditions, should seek medical attention.
