SINGAPORE - There will be wetter days ahead towards the end of October, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said in a weather advisory on Friday (Oct 16).

While the weather will be generally dry and warm in the second fortnight of October, there will be thundery showers in the afternoons on four to six days, NEA said.

The maximum daily temperature is forecast to be between 34 and 35 deg C.

The rainy days are due to the "strong daytime heating of land areas coupled with convergence of winds over Singapore and the surrounding region".

The south-west monsoon season is expected to transit to the inter-monsoon period towards the end of October.

The prevailing south-westerly winds are expected to weaken and become light and variable in the coming weeks.

South-west monsoon conditions prevailed in the first fortnight of October, with low-level winds blowing mainly from the south-east or south-west.
