End weekend on a high note

Music lovers have their pick of gigs this weekend, with a number of major acts in town to the delight of fans.

British rock band Coldplay played two sold-out shows at the National Stadium over the last two days.

The second show was added after tickets to the first were snapped up in a matter of hours.

More than 100,000 attended over two nights as part of the band's Head Full Of Dreams Tour.

Superstar Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren headlined at The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay last night, while South Korean-Chinese boyband EXO is performing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium today.

The Singapore International Jazz Festival, which brought in acts such as British singer- songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae and American jazz bassist and singer Esperanza Spalding, ends its three-day run today with a performance featuring queen of funk Chaka Khan.

Events planner Tina Lim, who went to Coldplay's concert on Friday, said that she was thrilled to have snagged tickets.

"I didn't get to see them the last time they were here, but luckily my friend managed to get tickets this time ," said the 29-year-old.

"The show was amazing. It's great that Singapore is bringing in more big names in the music scene, but I wish tickets were less expensive," she added.
