The Ministry of Education (MOE) received 650 applications for Kindergarten 1 places in 2015 for its 10 ministry-run kindergartens, the Ministry said on Sunday night.
This accounts for more than two-thirds of the total places available for K1 that year, said the MOE. Registrations were closed on Saturday.
Balloting will be conducted at MOE Kindergarten@Punggol View for both morning and afternoon sessions, and at MOE Kindergarten@Punggol Green and MOE Kindergarten@Sengkang Green for the morning session. All parents will be notified of the registration outcome by post by May 9, and those not allotted a place by then may wish to enrol in other MOE kindergartens nearby or in a different session where there are vacancies.
The 10 ministry kindergartens consist of five in Telok Blangah, Bukit Batok, Farrer Park, Punggol and Tampines which are already in operation, and five more in Jurong West, Punggol, Yishun, Sengkang and Bukit Panjang which will have their first intake in 2015. Except the ones in Tampines and Yishun which are at void decks, the other kindergartens are co-located with primary schools.
Parents can still submit their applications after the registration exercise, as long as there are still vacancies in the kindergartens. Those who wish to enrol their child in MOE kindergartens may approach the existing kindergartens, offices at Frontier Primary, Punggol Green Primary, Sengkang Green Primary, West Spring Primary, Chongfu School (for MOE Kindergarten@Yishun), and the MOE Customer Service Centre.
