Edmund Chen makes police report after son's Instagram account gets hacked four times

SINGAPORE - Local actor Edmund Chen has made a police report after his son's Instagram account was hacked into on four separate occasions.

The latest hacking happened right after Chen Yixi, 24, attended the Star Awards Show on Sunday and posted photos of local celebrities on his account, Lianhe Wanbao reported.

Edmund Chen told the Chinese daily that he did not know why his son was targeted, but they feared that the perpetrator might misuse his son's account.

"It's like his home was broken into, and everything was stolen. Not only that, the password was changed, and the house owner was locked out of his own home," he said.

His wife Xiang Yun said on Facebook: "My son's Instagram account was hacked into four times, we finally decided to make a police report. Social media has brought convenience and entertainment to so many people, but users should be disciplined and obey the law."

The son of Chen and veteran actress Xiang Yun, Yixi is a student at the School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University. He has dabbled in showbiz and starred in a Mandarin web drama i.Rock in 2012.
