From next Wednesday, commuters can choose to book a taxi with fares that vary with demand.

Five taxi firms - Trans-Cab, SMRT, Premier, Prime and HDT Singapore Taxi - with more than 10,600 cabs combined will offer the dynamic pricing option through JustGrab, a new service by ride-hailing app Grab. It will pool together cabs and private-hire cars under GrabCar services, and fares will be generally lower than Grab- Car's due to the increased supply.
