Driver trapped after truck hits lamp post on ECP

Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force's Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team using hydraulic tools to free a man trapped in the driver's seat of a tipper truck yesterday morning. The 43-year-old is believed to have suffered abrasions on his leg and abdominal pains, and was taken to the Changi General Hospital. The Straits Times understands that the truck first hit a lamp post before striking a tree on the Changi-bound side of the East Coast Parkway, near the Tanjong Katong Road exit, at around 6am. The accident caused traffic congestion on the expressway during the morning peak hour which cleared only at about 10am.
