DPP applies for full grounds of decision on Ng Boon Gay case

The team of prosecutors involved in the corruption case against former Central Narcotics Bureau chief Ng Boon Gay said in a statement on Monday that it had studied the 32-page long oral grounds of decision issued by District Judge Siva Shanmugam on Thursday.

They have now applied for a copy of the full, written grounds of decision for the case.

"In order to make a complete assessment of whether or not an appeal is warranted, it would be necessary for the prosecution to study the full, written grounds of decision," said the statement.

Upon receiving the documents, they will have two weeks to file an appeal if they decide to.

Mr Ng was acquitted of four counts of corruption last Thursday. He was cleared of the charges of obtaining sexual favours from IT executive Ms Cecilia Sue four times in 2011 in exchange for furthering business interests of her then employers.
