DPM Tharman Shanmugaratnam reappointed as chairman of MAS board of directors

SINGAPORE - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam will serve on the board of directors of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for another three years, after he was reappointed to the post.

Managing Director Ravi Menon has also been reappointed, and will serve as member of the MAS board of directors for a further two years.

The appointments take effect from June 1.

Other board members re-appointed for three years are Education Minister Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong, and Mr Quek See Tiat, chairman of the Building and Construction Authority.

The members of the MAS Board of Directors (as of June 1) are:

1. Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam (Chairman)

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance

2. Mr Lim Hng Kiang (Deputy Chairman)

Minister for Trade and Industry

3. Mr Heng Swee Keat

Minister for Education

4. Mr Lawrence Wong

6. Mr Lim Chee Onn

7. Mr Peter Ong Boon Kwee
