DPM Teo: Compare what candidates have to offer

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean came out early this morning to endorse PAP candidate Koh Poh Koon as a man with a comprehensive plan for Punggol East and who will get it done.

He said: "I hope that residents will compare what Poh Koon has to offer together with what other candidates can offer."

He was speaking to reporters with Dr Koh by his side, holding a flier that listed the candidate's plans for the ward. They include expanding or adding new childcare centres, setting up integrated eldercare facilities and a job placement centre.

Mr Teo also said he looked forward to working with Dr Koh as "one big Pasir Ris-Punggol", developing projects together. Earlier, they welcomed children going to a kindergarten.

While the PAP is focusing its campaign on its candidate, national plans like the expansion of the rail system and some $2 billion in pro-family measures have also been announced during the hustings.

Asked if these measures were to provide additional firepower, Mr Teo said: " "These are things which have been in the works for a long time and so I hope they will benefit Singaporeans as a whole."
