Diabetic Society of Singapore warns public of fundraising scam

The Diabetic Society of Singapore has raised the alert on a fundraising scam where unauthorised individuals are asking for donations using their organisation's name.

In a statement on Monday, the society said it "currently has no fundraising activity that entails door-to-door and street solicitation of donations". A police report has been lodged over the incident and investigations are ongoing, added a spokesman.

The spokesman advised the public not to donate to those asking for funds on behalf of the society through these methods.

He added that anyone who comes across these scammers should call the police or the society at 6842-3382.
