Dentist charged with molesting commuter on MRT train

A dentist was charged in court on Wednesday with molesting a woman on an MRT train.

Hoo Swee Tiang, 30, is accused of touching the 30-year-old woman's thighs on a service travelling between City Hall and Pasir Ris on April 10 last year.

The National University of Singapore (Dean's List) graduate had worked in KK Women's and Children's Hospital and National University Hospital before he went into private practice.

His scope of work includes dental aesthetics, cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry and minor oral surgery.

Hoo's lawyer Ravinderpal Singh applied for an adjournment as he had just been briefed.

Hoo's $10,000 bail has been extended until the next mention of his case on April 9.

If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to two years, a fine, caning or a combination of the punishments.
