As the number of dengue cases continued to rise, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said it was monitoring the epidemic closely and working with hospitals to manage the bed situation.
Between Sunday and 3pm yesterday, the number of cases rose by 227. Almost all the active clusters are currently in the eastern part of the country.
The biggest cluster in Tampines Streets 12, 21 and 22 now have 94 people down with the mosquito-borne disease. Another 70 people in other parts of Tampines have also been recently infected.
The MOH spokesman added that hospitals will review and discharge "medically stable patients to step-down care settings or to their own home" should the number of dengue cases increase.
They will also postpone non-emergency surgery to keep beds free for people who are seriously ill with dengue.
