A deliveryman who molested his own daughter was sentenced to 20 months and six strokes of the cane on Friday.

The 48-year-old man had pleaded guilty to rubbing against the 16-year-old victim and touching her inappropriately at their Woodlands flat in 2006.

The court had heard that in 2006, the victim told the accused she was having some rashes on her body.

He told her that he would help to apply some ointment on her body and instructed her to remove her clothes and lie face down on his bed.

The accused then pulled down his shorts and went on top of the victim, rubbing himself against her. He also touched her breasts and buttocks while applying the ointment on her body. This went on for several minutes.

Two other charges committed in 1998 and 2006 were considered during his sentencing.

The accused could have been jailed for up to two years, or fined or caned, or received any combined sentence.
