Delay on North-South Line between Yishun and Woodlands stations

Train service on a northbound stretch of the North-South Line was delayed by about 30 minutes after a train lost power Thursday evening.

In a statement on Facebook, operator SMRT said a northbound train travelling from Sembawang to Admiralty lost power at 5.07pm. It had earlier posted a tweet telling commuters to expect about 30 minutes of additional travelling time between Yishun and Woodlands.

The operator said it deployed an empty train to push the affected train toward Admiralty MRT station, where passengers were detrained safely.

Service resumed at around 5.37pm. SMRT added that it has already pulled the affected train out of service, and its engineers are currently carrying out checks and investigating the cause of the faulty train at Bishan Depot.
